The United States has long shown bipartisan support in offering safe haven to those fleeing violence, tyranny, and persecution—safely resettling over 3 million refugees since the passage of the 1980 Refugee Act.

Last year, the Governor of Texas declared that the state would no longer accept Syrian refugees, citing security concerns after the horrific attacks in Paris. The state demanded that the International Rescue Committee halt its resettlement programs or face a lawsuit. A federal judge on June 16, 2016 dismissed the lawsuit that would have banned refugee resettlement in Texas.

A year ago, the Trump administration put into effect a travel ban on thousands of refugees. Since then, it has done everything in its power to sabotage the resettlement program altogether any way it could. Help us save refugee resettlement in the U.S. Stand with the banned: Take action today

Muyambo Marcel Chishimba is a Congolese refugee resettled by the International Rescue Committee in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
