As part of the International Rescue Committee(IRC)'s 2022 Global Virtual Event, world famous cellist and IRC Luminary Yo-Yo Ma met with Zarlasht and Shir Zad Sarbaz, Afghan refugees who moved to the United States in December of 2021. The couple have since dedicated much of their time to helping other refugees adjust to life in the U.S., with Shir Zad working as a resettlement program manager at the IRC's New Jersey office.
Yo-Yo Ma, an immigrant himself, talked with the couple about their work with the IRC, what it's like to be a newcomer and where they find hope.
