“I hope for a country where women and men have equal value. My message to the world is that women in Afghanistan must be at the center of the decision-making. Do not make decisions about us without us!”
These are the words of Setayesh*, an aid worker in Afghanistan. She did not feel safe speaking on camera, so her words are read aloud by actress and International Rescue Committee Ambassador Lena Headey.
In honor of International Women's Day, Setayesh's words were shared alongside the stories of women in Ukraine, Syria and more. Against all the odds, they are beacons of resilience and determination.
