Summer Citizenship classes now starting at local Los Angeles Public Libraries

Jaya Maya came to the U.S. from Bhutan five years ago with her husband, mother-in-law, and son. After 22 years living in a refugee camp in Nepal, Jaya Maya is glad to be able to continue valuable cultural traditions around farming while nourishing themselves and their families with fresh grown produce through the assistance of the IRC in Baltimore's New Roots program.

The United Tastes of America and the IRC in Elizabeth partnered to offer participants an opportunity to share their home cuisine with one another while learning about safe food handling as a job readiness training event.

With new voter guides, the IRC in LA's citizenship class instructors help students feel confident in casting their first ballots as US citizens. As of March 2020, all classes have moved online.

When COVID-19 spread in Utah, small businesses working with our Spice Kitchen Incubator were hit hard. In response, entrepreneurs worked with Spice Kitchen staff to apply for emergency loans to save their businesses.

The IRC in NJ is hard at work through this crisis.

In Arizona, the IRC is already working to resettle newly arrived refugees while preparing for increased arrivals in the months to come. So far this year, the IRC has resettled 46 refugees in Phoenix and 14 in Tucson. 22 more refugees are currently scheduled in Phoenix and 26 scheduled in Tucson. Additional refugee arrivals are expected to be scheduled as the year continues.
