Mia Farrow visited the IRC's malnutrition programs in Chad, where over 1 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition. The IRC's new solution aims to expand access to treatment so that more children can receive the care they need. Follow Mia's journey.

In South Sudan, extreme hunger is being caused by conflict and war. Meet Nyanut Bol, a mother of triplets who wants her children to be safe and healthy. The babies are receiving care in an IRC health center. In South Sudan, an estimated 1.1 million children under age five are acutely malnourished and in need of lifesaving services. 

Refugees in Jordan—especially young children—have limited access to education. That's why the International Rescue Committee has trained Syrian refugees to teach them and vulnerable Jordanians how to use play as part of early learning. The program, "Reach Up and Learn," helps children ages six months to 2 1/2 years build their confidence, as well as language skills and other skills they need to thrive.

Asho fled conflict-ravaged Somalia in 2008 after she was raped and saw her neighbor killed in front of her for trying to protect her. Six years ago Asho and her children, who now live in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, learned that they would have a chance to resettle in the United States.

Through Ahlan Simsim, or “Welcome Sesame,”  the International Rescue Committee and Sesame Workshop are bringing early childhood development and playful learning to children—like Ayla in Jordan—who are affected by conflict and crisis in the Middle East.
