According to the Barometr every fourth entrepreneur indicates that he values employees from Ukraine for their loyalty, experience and modesty. Slightly less, i.e. 18%, appreciate the knowledge of Ukrainians, and 15% mentioned creating a positive atmosphere. Why is that? Because people who had to leave their houses are determined to rebuild their lives and work. Like Veronika:
I was desperately in need of work. I need normality in my life. I have to continue being independent, to work and to earn.Veronika Tkachenko
Before the war in Ukraine, Veronika worked as an architect in Kyiv and focused on the interior design of houses and apartments. In Warsaw, she was connected with a job at the POLIN Museum, which has allowed her to use her talents and skills.
By supporting Ukrainian people in the labour market, we help them to rebuild their lives and plan more secure futures.
- 746,000 people from Ukraine are already employed in the Polish labour market (According to the data of the from ZUS as of December 2022)
- 59% of refugees from Ukraine in Poland have a higher education (Source: EWL Group together with the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw)
- 47% are looking for a job or have a job of lower standard comparing to the one they had in Ukraine (According to Deloitte studies)
But not only refugees from Ukraine need jobs. Employers need employees.
Working with Ukrainian colleagues for the past year has been a pleasure. They have been a great support and asset for our programs supporting refugees, not only for the linguistic and cultural understanding but also for the engagement, commitment, and willingness to help they have constantly shown. They are diligent, responsible, and hardworking professionals, and they adapt well to the multicultural environment of our office.
