SCOPE OF WORK
San Diego's Taste of the IRC event is coming to downtown San Diego on Thursday, October 19, 2023! The event brings the community together to learn about the impact of IRC's innovative resettlement, safety and wellness, and economic empowerment programs. The event will elevate local refugee and immigrant experiences, businesses, and restaurants throughout San Diego.
This volunteer opportunity requires the following time commitments:
- One hour assignment and policy overview the day before the event on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
- Day-of-duties from 4:30 - 10:00 PM PST on Thursday, October 19, 2023. IRC kindly requests volunteers plan accordingly for traffic conditions to ensure timely arrival.
All Special Event Volunteers will represent the IRC through various assigned duties. Specific event assignments will be determined one day in advance, and include but are not limited to:
- Check-In Support
- On-Site Fundraising Monitoring
- General Event Management Support, such as program coordination, event set-up, event clean-up, and guest management

Event Time: 5:30 PM PST - 9 PM PST
Event Address: The Lane, 900 Bayfront Court, Suite 200, San Diego, 92101. Parking details will be shared in advance.
Attire
Dress Code: Business casual, IRC T-shirt with black pants, etc.
Not Permitted: Shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, flip-flops, clothes with offensive words/slogans/pictures, etc.
Name Tags: Will be provided for you in the designated staff/volunteer breakroom (feel free to wear your staff badge).
General Expectations
IRC requests volunteers to be friendly, respectful, and willing to help.
For the event to be a success, volunteers must be on time and available for the duration of the evening. Should you have changes to your availability, IRC requests advanced notice to the event team.
Because each volunteer will have a slightly different role, IRC requests volunteers to ask questions and be flexible to help where needed.
Volunteers are responsible for smoothly operating their assigned role once the event begins. Do not hesitate to ask questions about responsibilities beforehand and notify the event team immediately if any issues arise.
If volunteers need to leave during a volunteer posting, be sure to identify coverage in advance.
IRC will provide designated Food & drinks for staff & volunteers will be provided in the spacious break room.
IRC asks that all volunteers do their part to give a positive impression of IRC to our guests and community of supporters!
