Job Title: Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern
Location: Hybrid/Remote
State Date: Winter- January 2025

ABOUT THE JOB: The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern will work closely with the ICM team to assist with addressing clients’ needs in their area of vulnerability and address barriers to health and wellness for refugee and displaced clients with severe physical or mental health conditions, the elderly, clients who identify as LGBTQ+, single-headed households, primary caregivers, and victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence enrolled in the ICM program. The ICM Intern will be responsible for developing a Community Resource database and conducting a research project on refugee resettlement.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- The intern will gain experience in applied research and analysis and learn about systems that impact refugees' immigration experience.
- The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with resettlement agency staff.
- The intern will gain insight into the economic and cultural hurdles faced by refugees, asylees, and other community members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intern will be responsible for conducting a research project on refugee expectations of U.S. resettlement prior to arrival and compare to resettlement agency services.
- Intern will conduct research and build a community resource guide specifically catered to Intensive Case Management needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Self-driven researcher, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Holds curiosity about immigration/refugee resettlement
- Knowledge of community resources in Southern California is a plus
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity towards the vulnerable immigrant population, coupled with a strong commitment to aiding unaccompanied minors in their adjustment to life in the U.S.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Culturally competent and proficient communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Enthusiastic about learning about the broader IRC mission, philosophy, global work, and local initiatives.
- Willingness to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies.
