The IRC in Tallahassee is seeking volunteers to support our front desk operations. The front desk plays a critical operational role and sets the tone and pace for workflow on the front end. Volunteers will work with the Operations team to support in answering phones and scheduling appointments for the Tallahassee and Miami offices.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome clients, inform caseworkers of client arrival, and sort/distribute mail to teams.
- Answer phone calls, transcribe messages and distribute voicemails to ensure staff are receiving messages from clients or external parties.
- Utilize appointment scheduling software to book appointments for direct service providers based on client requests.
- Support in the receipt of donations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be patient and comfortable working with refugees and immigrants from diverse backgrounds many of whom have limited English proficiency.
- Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken. Additional language capacity is a plus.
- Must have in-person availability on at least one day on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
- Background check required.
- Must track and log hours volunteered monthly via our online volunteer dashboard.
