Disclaimer*** We kindly request volunteers to commit at least 3 months of service for regularly scheduled support, otherwise choosing an appointment specific volunteer opportunity would be more appropriate.
LOCATION: In-office or partner location
TIME COMMITMENT: 2 hours minimum
Responsibilities:
- Volunteers would support the Food Security, or New Roots Program, by helping with community gardens, emergency food deliveries, and food pantry navigation
- Volunteers will support this program administratively by assisting clients with getting transportation or access to food options
- Support for gardens depends on the time of the year
- Record hours and submit a completed timesheet at the end of each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard
Requirements:
- Commit at least 3 months of service
- Must attend volunteer sessions in-person
- Be able to work gardening tools as well as do some heavy lifting
- Work well under pressure
- Flexible and adaptive to change
- Provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19
- Willing to adhere to IRC Volunteer and workplace policies, including confidentiality policies

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: In accordance with IRC’s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards and our commitment to safeguard the health of our employees, clients, and communities, IRC requires all volunteers who are interested in providing in-person support for our work to furnish proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be onboarded for the position. If proof of vaccine cannot be provided, volunteers may still apply for virtual-only roles.
