BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC teams provide health, infrastructure, learning and economic support to people in 50+ countries worldwide. The IRC also provides support to thousands of refugees resettling in 29 U.S. cities each year through initial housing assistance; case management and referral services; job readiness and placement; community and cultural orientation; health and wellness programs; immigration services; and youth programs.
SCOPE OF VOLUNTEER WORK: Supervised by the Inventory Coordinator, a Donation Delivery Volunteer is tasked with picking up donated goods at IRC's warehouse and delivering the items to IRC's clients who generally reside in South King County.
LOCATION: IRC SeaTac Warehouse – 2365 S 200th St, SeaTac, WA 98198.
TIME COMMITMENT: 2-3 hours/week. Minimum commitment is 3 months.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Picking up donated items for one or more refugee families at IRC's warehouse.
- Driving to clients' homes and delivering donated items and getting clients' signature to acknowledge they received their items.
- Returning signed order slips or email photo of the order slips to the Operations Team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies.
- Reliable personal vehicle to deliver donations.
- Valid WA State Drivers License.
- Enthusiasm and respectful demeanor with clients.
- Willing to lift up to 30Lbs.
