SCOPE OF ROLE: The Community Events Volunteer will represent IRC Richmond at events throughout the greater Richmond area, hosting tables, distributing informational materials, collecting donations, and talking to the public about our work. This volunteer will help to raise awareness of and support for our mission, bolstering the resources and services available to benefit our clients.
COMMITMENT:
- Days and times: events may occur any day of the week, including weekend
- Frequency: intermittent (monthly or less)
- Hours: 2-3 hours per shift
LOCATION: IRC Richmond office, greater Richmond area
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick up event supplies from IRC Richmond office
- Set up table and event supplies at event location
- Talk with passersby about IRC Richmond's work, distribute informational materials, collect donations, and answer questions
- Pack up event supplies at end of event and bring back to IRC Richmond office
REQUIREMENTS:
- Outgoing personality
- Comfort speaking with lots of strangers in a short period of time
- Willingness to become very familiar with IRC Richmond's work
- Must be able to and comfortable answering "I don't know" and referring people to IRC Richmond for questions you are unable to answer
- Fluent English speaking skills
- Ability to adhere to IRC professional standards and volunteer policies including those around boundaries, confidentiality, COVID-19, etc.
