Scope of internship: As an Asylum Services Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in providing support to asylum seekers and migrants. You will work closely with our team of experienced navigators to learn about the asylum process, client intake, needs assessments, and referrals. This internship will provide you with a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals seeking safety and a new beginning..
Location: Hybrid. Two days in IRC office in SeaTac. Address: 1200 S 192nd. St SeaTac, WA 98148.
Time Commitment: 15 hours/week during IRC office hours (M-F, 9am-5pm). Regular schedule required. Minimum 3 month commitment.
Responsibilities:
- Client Scheduling and Screening Support
- Data Entry and Record Keeping
- Administrative Support
- Assist clients in scheduling appointments for screening and intake.
- Assist eligible clients with uploading the required documents into the system.
- Input client information accurately into our database.
- Assist in maintaining organized client files.
- Provide general administrative support, such as filing, photocopying, and reviewing clients’ appointments.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive office environment.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and compassion for individuals facing adversity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to speak a second language including Spanish, Portuguese, Lingala, Arabic, French, Ukrainian, Dari
- Experience working with diverse populations (preferred)
