The Airport Buddy Volunteers will be connected to the Resettlement team to receive newly arrived refugees at the airport. The volunteer will accompany the IRC staff caseworker to be one of the first people to welcome the client to Arizona.
Responsibilities:
- Volunteer will help transport clients and luggage from the airport to the families' new home.
- Assisting in conducting a brief orientation on how to use essential appliances in the apartment.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass an IRC background check
- Flexibility with volunteer time. Airport pick-ups can be scheduled or cancelled at the last minute, which is out of IRC's control.
- Driver's license and personal vehicle, ability to transport clients and/or luggage in your vehicle.
- Cultural competency and excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 5 hour availability at a time for waiting at the airport, welcoming the client and accompanying the family to their new home for household orientation.
- Weekly hours vary but most likely Monday-Friday in the evenings. Can be late night pick-ups.
