Tolassa Elemaa put his dream of being a world-class runner on hold when he became a refugee. But on Nov. 4 he completed the New York City Marathon.

Avanti committed her time as a volunteer supporting tax return submissions for refugee and new American families earlier this year. She reflects on her experience providing this important service during her three-month commitment.
