Meet Muhammed Ali, a spirited Syrian boy stranded in Greece
Muhammed Ali was just five days old when he and his family fled their home in war-torn Aleppo, Syria. Like many families, they had to split up to find safety. The four-year-old is now living in a camp in northern Greece with his mother and two of his siblings. His father and sister Noora are in Germany.

A WIN-WIN: Multi-year flexible funding is better for people and better value for donors
This report by International Rescue Committee (IRC), with support from Development Initiatives (DI), builds on the already strong evidence base for multi-year flexible funding. A comparative analysis of two cash programmes in Somalia funded by DFID and Sida, which draws on data collected using the Systematic Cost Analysis (SCAN) tool developed by IRC with Save the Children and Mercy Corps, provides preliminary indications of quantifiable cost efficiency gains of multi-year funding.

A baby named Rescue
After years of war in Yemen forced Bodor Ali Muhammad Abdullah al-Jabri to flee her home along with her husband and two girls, she became pregnant with her third child. Living in a displacement camp, she worried whether the delivery would be safe. Luckily, there was a solution. IRC teams in Yemen are providing lifesaving emergency aid, medical care, clean water, education, and women’s protection to millions in the country.

How will we treat 6M kids a year for SAM by 2020?
The Airbel Center at IRC has worked in consultation with the No Wasted Lives Coalition to help answer the following question: how can we, as a nutrition community, treat 6M children a year for SAM by 2020? To come up with an answer, we identified promising innovations in SAM treatment, spoke to experts leading the charge for greater effectiveness and reduced cost, and built a mathematical model to project treatment and cost numbers into the future. The Airbel Center is making our results, as well as our model, available to the broader nutrition community, to challenge our assumptions and broaden the discussion. Stories of Welcome: A refugee mother is embraced by her new community
Jacqueline Uwumeremyi fled from the Democratic Republic of Congo to South Africa because of violence. After facing constant xenophobia because of her refugee status, she and her five children were finally resettled in Boise, Idaho, in 2018. There she was warmly embraced by local church members and other neighbors, including her close friends Pastor Jenny Hirst and neighbor Chris Johnson.
