Five years ago, Maria was a 26-year-old single mother of two living in Honduras. After fleeing for life and being granted asylum in the U.S., Maria received assistance from the IRC in Baltimore and was able to reunite with her two sons this year.

The IRC’s US offices offer a variety of unpaid internship opportunities throughout the year. Prospective interns must go through the volunteer process and should be currently enrolled in an educational institution or a recent graduate.

Isatou averts deportation with help from the IRC

IRC Washington is now able to provide legal representation to unaccompanied children through the Children's Legal Services Program. With IRC Washington's wide array of programming, unaccompanied children are also able to receive additional support such as educational resources or mental health counseling.
