Ahlan Simsim's Remote Early Learning Program: Significant Impact on Child Learning
The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future.In 2018, Sesame Workshop and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) joined forces to created the Ahlan Simsim initiative to give children affected by conflict and crisis in the Middle East the support they need to learn, grow and thrive.

Meet Michelda: Farmer, Wife, and Asylum Seeker.
Forced to flee Haiti alone after an attempted attack on her home, Michelda sought safety in Mexico. Here, she found hope through the IRC’s Resilient Futures Program, supported by the Citi Foundation, which helps refugees build new lives through job training and employment opportunities. Now, Michelda is learning sustainable farming at the Iniciativa Agroecológica Xochimilco school, growing not just crops, but her dreams of a stable future.

Livelihoods Cost Effectiveness Brief - Building Income and Leveraging Livelihoods for Youth (BILLY)
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) implemented BILLY in Nairobi, Kenya from 2019-2021. BILLY was a micro-entrepreneurship program which provided business grants and services intended to increase employment status, consumption levels, and business investments. The program focused on youth in Nairobi, particularly refugees and vulnerable populations. As part of a research study, three treatment models of BILLY were implemented, which included various combinations of direct program services, business grants, and compensatory cash grants.
