Ivan travelled thousands of miles from Venezuela to the U.S.-Mexico border only to be turned away.

Leander and Jesús first came to the United States in 2016 as asylum seekers with their family. They have continued to think about Venezuela and wonder how they can help the country that they love so much. Then, it occurred to them: a book to raise funds to feed other children.

Recognizing the critical need for employment and childcare for new Americans, Marmot Snetsinger co-founded Little Twigs Childcare. Today, Little Twigs employs over 20 refugee women from diverse backgrounds, empowering them with valuable professional skills and creating a unique environment for the children they serve.

The inaugural Mini-NYSA program took place from April 11th – 14th, 2023 during the NYC DOE spring break week.
