Eight months into the unfolding humanitarian crisis, intense bombardment and military operations continue across all of Gaza. More than 37,765 Palestinians have been killed, and at least 50% of the identified fatalities are said to be women and children. Another 86,429 have been injured. As a result of the devastating conditions, between 15,000 and 19,000 children are estimated to have been orphaned and at least 17,000 children are estimated to unaccompanied or separated from their parents.

In this desk review and report, IRC's Child Protection team, led by Ulrike Julia Wendt, provides a detailed overview of the situation that unaccompanied and separated children in Gaza are facing, as well as the systems in place to support them.
