Thousands of people from more than 100 countries joined the International Rescue Committee (IRC) for our 2021 Global Virtual Event to honor courageous acts of leadership.
During the May 20 celebration, Leadership in Times of Crisis, we:
- Shared the powerful stories of refugees and IRC team members who have stepped up when others have stepped back.
- Honored renowned social justice advocate Bryan Stevenson with this year’s Freedom Award.
- Gave our John C. Whitehead Humanitarian Award to the Arnhold family for their visionary philanthropy.
- Enjoyed performances by the iconic musician Sting and the Billboard chart-topping singer Faouzia.

We are honored that the event was selected as a winner, along with our World Refugee Day 2021 campaign, in the inaugural Anthem Awards bestowed by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences in February 2022.
