Event details

Join us at the 2024 Global Rescue Dinner and see how the International Rescue Committee is defying the odds in the most difficult places in the world.

With the support of our donors and partners, we find a way to break through every barrier—especially when it comes to supporting the unique needs of women and girls. No matter the obstacle, no matter the conflict zone—we press on and help people survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

At the event, we will honor our staff, clients and this year’s awardees. Celebrate with us their achievements, life-changing work and courage in the face of adversity.

    Dr. Denis Mukwege

Dr. Denis Mukwege is a renowned gynecologist and activist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In 2018, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his advocacy against sexual violence as a weapon of war and for his outstanding services to survivors of rape.

His desire to become a doctor and help others began from a very young age while accompanying his father, a Pentecostal pastor, during visits with sick members of the community. Later, while studying, he chose the path of gynecology and obstetrics after observing how female patients suffer from insufficient medical care.
