Did you know that after living for one year in the United States, refugees apply to become legal permanent residents? The IRC's immigration team helps refugee and immigrant community members complete this critical, and necessary, step on the path to U.S. citizenship.
The IRC hosted its first-ever green card workshop this month for 30 community members. A hard-working group of IRC interns worked alongside IRC immigration specialists to complete and submit a month's worth of green card applications in just one day!
In addition to filing for their green cards, workshop participants received useful information on vocational training opportunities, English classes, community safety, health, and “know-your rights” materials. The workshop was a great success and the IRC looks forward to hosting more workshops in the future.
