Welcoming our Ukrainian allies and other newcomers to Washington will require a whole-community response, and we are working with partners across the state to make it happen. This briefing will offer updates on IRC's global and local response to the crisis in Ukraine as well as a summary of what the IRC in Washington has been up to in the past 6 months, particularly around the changes we made in our local office to expand and improve our efforts in welcoming more Afghan newcomers than ever before. We will also together discuss our work, what we're looking forward to, and how community can help welcome and support new neighbors in Washington and continue our more than 40-year history of welcoming refugees to our state.
We have already seen an incredible and immediate response from our community in wanting to support Ukrainian refugees and are so grateful for the support of our donors, supporters, and community groups. Looking ahead, we are excited to have our community engage and participate in our local efforts to continue welcoming refugees and newcomers from all over the world. These are uncertain times for all of us, but it’s more important now than ever that we come together as a community and stay connected as neighbors.
