This past year, we had the privilege of welcoming over 350 newcomers to the Treasure Valley, while also providing ongoing services to hundreds of others. The past few years have been challenging in refugee resettlement - urgent humanitarian crises around the world, combined with compounded effects from the pandemic and a housing crisis in the U.S. led to long temporary stays in hotels for newly arriving refugees in Boise.

We are happy to share that we reached a milestone in the summer when we moved all families out of hotels to permanent housing. Many volunteers were involved in client moves and housing set-ups during these months! However, our work does not end there.

Newcomers need ongoing support in the months and years following initial resettlement as they move from initial self-sufficiency to truly thriving. The IRC will remain steadfast in our work - no matter the challenge - to put our clients first and to serve them where and when they need us most.

This important work of welcome would not be possible without local financial supporters. We invite you to put values into action by making a financial gift to the IRC in Boise. Your support ensures we can continue to be here for those in highest need.

Currently, we have two active fundraising options linked here:

  1. Give to the IRC in Boise through Avenues for Hope (December 9-31, 2024) Donations are being matched so your gift goes farther!
  2. Give directly to the IRC in Boise Become a sustaining donor or give anytime throughout the year with this link!

Antoine is an IRC Employment Specialist and a former refugee from Burundi. After fleeing violence and becoming separated from his family, he ended up living in a refugee camp in Zimbabwe for over a decade. There he met his wife, started a family, and was finally resettled by the IRC in 2023.
