As the holiday season begins, help our newly arrived refugees celebrate their first Thanksgiving.
This Thanksgiving, will you consider partnering with us so that we can make their first Thanksgiving truly special?
In many ways, the refugee journey parallels the stories we remember during Thanksgiving. These new families have fled danger and have started a new life here in America. In their first year, they faced many challenges but they have overcome them and have a bright future ahead.
We want to help these families celebrate the traditional Thanksgiving meal and you can be a part of welcoming them.
All new arrivals will receive a Thanksgiving basket to celebrate as a family. These baskets will contain everything necessary to cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal - including a turkey or chicken.
The easiest way to help is through monetary or Walmart gift card donations so that we can purchase the turkeys and ingredients for the families.
If you would like to partner by donating perishable items, please email Jen Rogers to discuss items we are including in this year's Thanksgiving baskets.
We will be accepting donations and items through 11/22 for Thanksgiving baskets.
Please coordinate any drop-off times with Jen. Gift cards and monetary donations can be mailed to the IRC in Abilene office at 3305 N. 3rd St. Suite 320 Abilene, TX 79603. Donations can also be made online.
