Wow! We put the call out for backpacks and school supplies and you delivered! We've received 200 backpacks, tons of school supplies, and healthy snacks thanks to many generous community members, including our friends at Dropbox Seattle, Patagonia Seattle, Howard S. Wright Construction, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and several more individual donors!
A very special shout-out to young IRC supporter David B. (pictured center) who collected dozens of backpacks and other supplies for his Eagle Scout project, with support from his mom and community.
Much gratitude to everyone who donated and organized drives throughout the summer to help newcomer students start the school year off right! We're simply blown away.
IRC youth programs help refugee and immigrant youth of all ages build social connections, learn new skills, and ultimately feel more at home in their new schools and communities. Looking for more ways to support newcomer youth? Consider becoming a volunteer tutor! We're currently in urgent need of volunteers for our afterschool programs in Auburn and Tukwila.
