June 10 - 24: The IRC in San Diego's International Documentary Film Series had over 120 guests in attendance each evening for screenings in the beautiful theater at the Museum of Photographic Arts. Guests heard the personal stories of individuals and families impacted by war and displacement and gained a new perspective through stories told via award-winning documentary film.
June 16: The Pop on 30th World Refugee Day party featured live music by the Matrida Umoja Band, fresh food, coffee and smoothies and local, organic produce sold by the Youth FarmWorks program.
June 30: The IRC's Youth Programs held a community "Refugees Welcome" event that saw over 200 members of the refugee community come out for a day of activities, prizes, food and music at the IRC's Resliency Garden in El Cajon. Attendees participated in creating a new "Refugees Welcome" banner that now hangs at the IRC's El Cajon office.
