Communications and Development Intern 

As the Communications and Development Intern, you'll organize strategic events, lead local communications planning, and contribute to other business development projects. Your involvement will directly impact the community as you help produce materials that support the IRC's vital work. Responsibilities include supporting our annual fundraising event, creating outreach plans, managing webpages and social media, coordinating client success stories and website announcement content, and securing in-kind donations. Grants Management Intern 

The Grants Management Internship will gain real-world experience in grant management while working closely with the Grants Coordinator and Grants Specialist. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining a pre-award/post-award and prospecting database, drafting concept notes for client and donor-facing programs, and updating the grant management database on the Asana Platform. Throughout this internship, you'll develop essential skills for the nonprofit sector, including grant management, proposal development, and a deep understanding of IRC Resettlement, Asylum, & Integration programming. Immigration Intern 

Join us in making a meaningful impact by contributing your skills and passion to our Immigration Legal Staff. As an Immigration Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting current and new client cases. Your responsibilities will include entering data into tracking systems, collaborating directly with IRC immigration professionals on case follow-ups, conducting research projects to assist with cases, and contributing to community outreach and program development goals. Additionally, you will gain valuable insights into the U.S. Immigration system, receive training on application processes and eligibility requirements, and develop strong research skills for concise summarization of findings. Citizenship Education Program Intern 

Ready to empower Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) on their path to U.S. citizenship? As a Citizenship Education Program Intern, you will work alongside our Citizenship Instructor to assist in outreach efforts, manage student data, lead sessions, and contribute to classroom activities. This role offers valuable experience in program management, cross-cultural communication, and teaching English and civics. These courses equip LPRs with the necessary language skills and civics knowledge to excel in the U.S. Citizenship test and actively engage as American citizens. Refugee Youth and Education Intern

As a Refugee Youth and Education Intern, you'll empower newcomer high school youth by enhancing their English language and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. Through diverse and engaging activities like sports, team-building games, arts and crafts, and acculturation field trips, you'll foster holistic student development.  Asylum Seekers and Families Program Intern 

The Asylum Seekers and Families Program Internship offers students a chance to make a meaningful impact. As an intern, you'll contribute to the Asylum Seekers and Families program and Survivor Advocacy Services. Your responsibilities may include supporting case management, accompanying clients to appointments, conducting outreach, and developing community partnerships. You'll gain exposure to case management for asylum seekers and survivors of crime, learn about the asylum process, and expand your cross-cultural communication skills. Refugee and Immigrant Pantry Education (RIPE) Intern 

The Refugee and Immigrant Pantry Education (RIPE) Program includes a culturally inclusive food pantry, supports refugee and immigrant-led food production, and provides workshops and orientations to improve food system knowledge. Interns will engage in community outreach, food stocking, and distribution, contributing to this vital initiative. Women's Resilience Center Intern 

The Women's Resilience Center (WRC) is a safe, collaborative space where the diverse needs of all women are respected. Women's Economic Empowerment Specialist Intern 

The Women's Economic Empowerment Specialist (WEES) Intern collaborates with the WEES Program Specialist to assist women facing economic challenges. Responsibilities include supporting financial literacy workshops, providing individual coaching, assessing eligibility for low-income loans, and offering driving lessons using the IRC's driving simulator. Additionally, the intern will develop gender equity awareness, intercultural communication skills, and trauma-informed survivor-centered programming. Resettlement Administrative Intern

The Resettlement Administrative Intern plays a crucial role in assisting newly arrived refugees and those facing significant barriers in connecting to services in San Diego. Their responsibilities include scheduling appointments, processing case files, coordinating airport pickups, and creating guides for clients. The internship provides valuable learning opportunities related to service plans, the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, refugee populations, nonprofit office functions, and organizational development.

Resettlement Housing and Logistics Intern

As a Resettlement Housing and Logistics Intern, you'll be at the heart of helping newly arrived refugees and individuals overcome obstacles to find their footing in San Diego. Your responsibilities will span a range of critical tasks, including coordinating client moves, managing administrative duties, assisting with housing applications, and handling essential paperwork. Through this internship, you'll gain insights into San Diego's housing process, refugee resettlement, and the inner workings of a nonprofit office.

Resettlement Refugee Fieldwork Intern

The Refugee Fieldwork Intern will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of refugees in San Diego. Their responsibilities include assisting newly arrived refugees in overcoming barriers, directly aiding refugee clients, and contributing to ongoing projects within the Resettlement Department. This department encompasses two programs: Reception & Placement and Afghan Integration Resettlement Services. Interns can choose to work with specific programs or assist both. Their tasks involve accompanying clients to appointments, facilitating airport pickups, setting up apartments, enrolling clients in services, and creating helpful guides. Additionally, this internship offers valuable learning opportunities related to service plans, the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, refugee populations in San Diego, and nonprofit office functions. 

Microenterprise Intern 

As a Microenterprise Program Intern at IRC San Diego, your role will be crucial. You will help enroll childcare care entrepreneurs into the program, assist walk-in clients, prepare childcare license applications, conduct quality assurance tasks, monitor the childcare program, track outcomes, facilitate training, and participate in outreach events. You'll gain insights into microenterprise programs, refugee childcare needs, and outcome measurement along the way. Your contributions will make a difference!
