On October 21st, Danny Beus joined the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City as executive director, transitioning from his role at Cache Refugee & Immigrant Connection (CRIC) to take the helm of IRC’s efforts in the Beehive State. Danny not only brings a wealth of experience to the IRC’s efforts in Utah but maintains a deep commitment to refugee resettlement and building welcoming communities.
Danny expressed his excitement at the prospect of joining the IRC’s efforts in Utah: "I am beyond excited to join the IRC team in Salt Lake. The local staff has a tradition of doing incredible work helping refugees and immigrants thrive in our community, and I look forward to being part of that."
As the son of an immigrant mother, Danny spent his childhood and formative years surrounded and supported by diverse communities. His upbringing guided his passion to give back to these communities, both personally and professionally. He graduated from Utah State University and now has more than 15 years working in social services. Alongside his wife, Kathryn, and their children, Danny enjoys exploring Utah’s public lands and traveling.
During his time at CRIC in Logan, Utah, Danny worked to build a coalition of support for refugees and other immigrants in the community—bringing the community together toward efforts of inclusivity and positive integration. He led efforts to expand CRIC’s mission in Utah, establishing refugee resettlement efforts in Cache County and fostering support for newcomers to Logan.
“Refugee resettlement and services to refugees and other immigrants does not work without community support and collaboration. Community supporters are crucial to the success of the people we serve,” Danny noted. He plans to continue his community-based efforts to invigorate support for refugees and new Americans in his new role.
Through his clear vision and passion for supporting immigrants, Danny has forged meaningful and lasting partnerships across the state and remains a trusted advocate for refugees seeking safety in our state. His skill in communicating complex issues and guiding policymakers has made him an invaluable asset to Utah’s resettlement efforts.
“As a state, Utah has been an example to the rest of the nation on how to welcome refugees. Now, when others seek to demonize people fleeing persecution and war, it has never been more important to help refugees know that they are welcome here now and always,” Danny confirmed as he looks forward to supporting continued efforts by the IRC in Utah.
The IRC in Salt Lake City is grateful to welcome Danny to the team. We hope you will join us in offering a warm welcome to Danny as he settles into his new role. If you’d like to be connected with Danny directly, email us at [email protected] for an introduction.
