Thanks to your support last year, the IRC in NJ assisted over 5,000 refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced persons on their journey to self-sufficiency. Previously, the IRC in NJ supported 3,000 clients in 2021. The number of arrivals seeking support will rise through 2023 and beyond.

In response, the IRC in NJ is successfully continuing the Community Sponsorship program in collaboration with Church World Service and funded by the Catalyst Community Sponsorship Hub. In this program, the IRC in NJ partners with local community groups such as RAMP to co-sponsor families. One World One Love, as well as Cornerstone Counseling, provided critical support to families as well.

Over 30 volunteers were involved across the two co-sponsorship teams. This is an incredible success! All were moved by their personal experience with the families they served. One family in co-sponsorship is happily settled, with the father gainfully employed, their two children happily enrolled in school, and the mother working towards gaining her credentials approval in the United States. The second co-sponsored family is adjusting nicely to their new home. Their son is enrolled in school, and they are well on their way to connecting with their new community, establishing roots, and working toward their personal and family goals.

Partnering with IRC NJ to co-sponsor a family is a meaningful opportunity to connect with, mentor, and support new families on their journey to rebuilding their lives here in America. The attached flyer/informational sheet details the program's requirements.

The IRC in NJ is actively looking to grow our co-sponsorship program and would happily schedule a one-on-one presentation with you. If you’re interested in getting involved or learning more, please reach out to our Community Sponsorship Coordinator, Sally, at [email protected].

Are you or do you know any large affinity groups? The IRC in NJ welcomes any introductions or referrals you might have in mind.
