On February 10, 2019, International Rescue Committee in Dallas youth clients Manar and Frishta had the honor to meet former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright. Dr. Albright was in Dallas promoting her new book, Fascism: A Warning, to a sold-out Dallas crowd at Southern Methodist University's McFarlin Auditorium.
Manar and Frishta met the inspirational former refugee and International Rescue Committee Overseer, and had the opportunity to share with Dr. Albright the brief versions of their powerful stories. Manar and Frishta have both benefitted from the IRC in Dallas' Academic Coaching Program (Manar matriculated into college this academic year and Frishta will graduate from high school in June).
"I told Hon. Albright that she is an inspiration to me, and that she is one of my role models," Frishta said.
Thanks to World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and the Dallas Museum of Art for allowing two of our refugee youth to meet the former Secretary of State!
