The IRC in Dallas is pleased to provide our corporate and church partners, as well as groups of various sizes, opportunities to engage meaningfully and directly with our work.

Community Garden Cleanup/Harvest Help

Location: White Rock Lake Area

Requirements: Volunteers must all sign confidentiality waivers, they also must bring their own gardening tools such as gloves and shovels

Time/Dates: M-F, Summer before 10 AM and after 3 PM, Fall/Winter/Spring all day with weather permitting

Description:  Many of our refugee clients come from agricultural societies and, upon request, a family is given a free garden plot to maintain. They are provided with seeds from the specific region of the world they are from, as they are usually more familiar with their native plants/produce as opposed to what may be native here. Volunteers help during peak harvest season as well as year-round in maintaining these plots. The growing plants are not harmed during the cleanup.

Wrapping Presents and Helping Decorate for Holiday Pary (Seasonal)

Location: IRC Dallas Offices, we are next to Northpark Mall

Requirements: Volunteers must all sign confidentiality waivers

Times/Dates:  November/December, wrapping presents is flexible, holiday party tbd

Description: During our Home for the Holidays program, we receive a plethora of gifts for our refugee families. These gifts come to us unwrapped, per our request, so that we can properly categorize them for our donation tracking purposes. Thus, we need volunteers to help wrap gifts as well as help decorate our office for holiday parties held for our refugee clients.

Donation Bundles Drive

Location: Corporate Campus

Times/Dates: At your convenience

Date:  Year-Round

Description: As we have limited funds per client, in-kind donations help us provide goods without spending down already restricted funds. Our current needs are large and small kitchen items, such as cookware sets, plates, utensils, etc., as well as hygiene bundles such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The volunteers are responsible for purchasing the items and assembling the bundles. After such bundles are assembled, our office will coordinate the pickup of the bundles.
