Going into the senior year of High School, seniors; Jack Buzzard and Chad Stronger wanted to do something that would give their community of Inman, Kansas a way to help refugees. The men called the IRC in Wichita to find out more about refugees resettling in Wichita and what they might be able to do to help.
The men decided to hold an in-kind donation drive in their community. In doing so, they placed boxes in their high school, in grocery stores and other public meeting places encouraging people to donate gently used warm clothing and canned food to the IRC. Their community overwhelmingly supported this cause and the men delivered a van full of canned food and warm clothing to the IRC.
“We wanted to do something to help our community understand more about helping refugees and give them an opportunity to help give back.”
The items that the men had donated will be given to refugees rebuilding their lives in Wichita. For more information about how you or your organization may become involved with the IRC please contact [email protected].
