The IRC in New Jersey’s first cohort of Hospitality Link graduated in April 2018. A total of 18 students from a wide variety of backgrounds attended intensive hospitality training daily for two weeks. They learned vocational English as a Second Language and soft skills to help them secure employment in area hotels. Students participated in hands-on, experiential training opportunities such as mock interviews with local community members, hotel field trips, and guest speakers from former hotel management. After graduation, students received individualized one-on-one job placement services and advice for planning their long-term careers in the hospitality industry.
The overall goal of Hospitality Link is to support people in securing needed employment in one of the nation’s largest sectors, while simultaneously helping employers in this sector have access to a motivated, well-prepared workforce that is prepared to fill critical jobs within this sector.
