That’s why the IRC of Northern California now offers free educational resources and individualized case management to California borrowers. The great news about this program is that it’s open to anyone living in California – including you, your friends, family, and more!
Our services include:
Case Review
Assessing borrower's specific loan type(s), servicers, and unique situation
Repayment Planning
Helping borrowers understand repayment plans and options, as well as consolidation and default management
Forgiveness Screening
Explore opportunities to qualify for forgiveness and cancellation programs
Legal Aid
Connect borrowers experiencing wage garnishments, fraud, or other legal challenges with legal assistance
Student Loan Education
Providing education on general student loan information in collaboration with other community partners

More Information
The International Rescue Committee is a member of the Student Loan Empowerment Network (SLEN), a network of non-profits providing student loan counseling in partnership with the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI).
The IRC is the lead partner of the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC), an initiative of the City of Sacramento. The FEC’s team of four financial coaches provide free, professional one-on-one support to Sacramento residents 18 and over on budgeting, building savings, reducing debt, establishing or improving credit, and accessing safe and affordable financial services. Individuals receiving student loan counseling can be referred to other FEC services and vice versa.
