Our friends and partners at Free Bikes 4 Kidz Atlanta recently provided 125 bikes and helmets for the children and young people that we have welcomed to a new home in Georgia—along with their families—in 2022!

So far, bikes have been gifted to refugee students in our Youth Futures, New Roots and Early Education programs, with more to be delivered to students in our My New School program as well as young people enrolled in our Connect 2 Success (C2S) program who need a bike to travel between work and GED classes.

We’d also like to thank the students from Indiana University Bloomington who kindly spent their Alternative Winter Break helping us distribute bikes to our new neighbors and their families.

We are so grateful to our friends at FB4K Atlanta and Indiana University for their generosity and for making refugees welcome here in Georgia. Scroll for more information about our Youth programs and photos of our students with their new bikes!

In 2022, 51 refugee youth used the Clarkston High School garden—looked after by student participants in IRC Atlanta’s New Roots Garden Club—to grow food for household consumption, and 87% of students received harvested food to take home.
