Since April of this year, IRC's Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) has provided $159,000 to Afghan evacuees in Richmond to secure auto loans at 0% interest through a program that provides affordable financing options and client-led financial coaching services. This has empowered clients to seek  transportation independence and greater mobility to improve their options for employment. This program is one of many initiated by CEO to provide access to financial products that are often out of reach for newly arrived refugees due to limited income and credit history. Since January 2021, IRC Richmond has provided financial coaching to over 100 clients, including 45 loan recipients.
