Grants Management Intern 

Gain real-world experience in grant management through exposure to the operations of a large international organization while practicing and applying methods to maximize the reach of IRC programming in San Diego, CA. 

Housing and Logistics Intern 

Be a crucial asset in helping newly arrived refugees and other refugees facing significant barriers to settling into new homes in San Diego by assisting with the move-in process. Gain knowledge of the San Diego housing process, refugee resettlement processes, and the essential steps of setting up new refugee families for success. 

Career Programs Intern 

Be a part of the Career Program and help provide development services to refugee clients interested in earning industry-recognized creditations. Improve your literacy and work readiness skills through delivering on-site literacy and workforce preparation activities and classes at the IRC. 

Immigration Intern 

Help restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster by helping Immigration staff assist with current and new client cases. Begin research to assist community outreach and allow the program to reach its goals. Develop your research skills while gaining a more profound knowledge of the U.S. immigration system. 

Citizenship Education Program Intern 

Make a direct impact by helping Instructors run the Citizenship Test Preparation Courses offered to Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs). Improve familiarity with cross-cultural communication while gaining skills in managing and implementing a Citizenship Education program. 

Asylum Seekers and Families Program Internship 

Play a crucial role in the Asylum Seekers and Families program and Survivor Advocacy Services by actively engaging with the community, conducting outreach activities, and providing essential support for case management. Become familiar with cross-cultural communication and gain exposure to case management for Asylum Seekers and Survivors of Crime. 

Survivor Advocacy Services Intern

Support the SBDC program through administrative and direct service support. Gain insight into implementing a microenterprise program and women-owned small businesses in San Diego County.   

Marketing and Special Events Intern

 Work with IRC San Diego in providing training and assistance to small businesses in their path to establishing themselves in the commercial landscape, in real life, and online. Gain experience in all aspects of special events, from logistics, operations, marketing, and coordination.

Refugee Field Work Intern 

Support Caseworkers and refugee clients directly and will assist with ongoing projects within the Resettlement Department. Learn about service plans and the essential steps of setting up new refugee families for success in San Diego.   

Resettlement Administrative Intern 

Be instrumental in helping newly arrived refugees and other refugees facing significant barriers to connecting to appropriate services in San Diego via phone and email. Learn about the essential functions of a non-profit office needed to help programs continue to run. 

Youth Development Intern 

Support all programming at Crawford or Hoover High School in the City Heights region. This role involves profoundly impacting the lives of refugee and immigrant youth by providing invaluable academic and social-emotional support during crucial after-school hours. Acquire the skills to organize compelling leadership activities for high school students, incorporating trauma-informed and culturally/linguistically responsive practices. 

Communications and Development Intern 

Play a pivotal role in actively involving the community to support the IRC's work meaningfully, offering essential administrative support for IRC in San Diego's community engagement and online initiatives. Gain insights into strategic planning for fundraising and communications. 

Youth Higher Education Intern 

Assist with all programming associated with IRC's new Higher Learning Navigation (HLN) program. Gain experience in providing essential program management support including but not limited to outreach and recruitment, intake, data entry, editing college essays, tracking

Tax Specialist 

The VITA Tax Specialist is responsible for the seamless coordination and day-to-day administration of the IRC's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at one of IRC's tax sites in El Cajon or San Diego. This role supports free tax preparation services to over 1,000 individuals and families, resulting in millions in tax refunds to low-income communities. This short-term, full-time position spans from December 15, 2023, to April 15, 2024.

Roving R&P Direct Services Program Manager, West 
The headquarters Resettlement Team oversees the implementation and quality of services for refugees within their early resettlement period. The team supports IRC local office staff in implementing high-quality programs by providing technical assistance, training, and monitoring. The Reception and Placement Program, funded by the Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration, provides early self-sufficiency services to newly arrived refugees. The Roving Direct Services Case Worker offers in-person and virtual support to IRC U.S. sites needing additional R&P staffing support due to unexpected vacancies or surges in arrivals. 

Development and Community Relations Coordinator 

The Development and Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for and supports the day-to-day operations of the in-kind donations resource development, community engagement, and communications efforts, helping the development team raise the profile of the IRC in San Diego as the agency of choice for community donors, sponsors, supporters, and volunteers. The Development and Community Relations Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the in-kind resource development to gather, procure, and track much-needed in-kind resources for families supported by the IRC.   

Childcare Business Counselor 
The Childcare Business Counselor will support the continued development of the IRC Small Business Development Program with a strong focus on supporting the growth and expansion of childcare businesses. As the Childcare Business Counselor within the IRC SBDC, this position will provide firm advising on several topics, including but not limited to start-up assistance, financial literacy, marketing, expansion, and access to capital.  

Human Resources Manager 

Be part of the IRC Leadership Team for the San Diego and Los Angeles offices. Oversee and implement human resource activities, providing a spectrum of services from tactical to strategic. Engage with the Regional HR Director to ensure compliance with all organization-wide policies and procedures and lead local labor law compliance efforts.
