Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts!
November and December are without doubt the busiest and most intense, but also the most fascinating and invigorating months for the IRC in Denver. This so called "Giving Season" in Colorado is marked by two powerful days: Giving Tuesday on November 28th and Colorado Gives Day on December 5th.
Both dates have over the last years turned into much more than just individual days. They have become movements with the goal to reimagine a world built upon shared humanity and radical generosity.
GivingTuesday, a global movement unleashing the power of generosity was created in 2012 as a simple idea: establishing one day that encourages people to do good. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in. Since then, GivingTuesday has grown into a yearly world-wide call to action inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. The IRC in Denver invites you to join the movement and give – on Tuesday November 28th – whether it’s some of your time, the power of your voice in your local community, or a donation here.
ColoradoGives, also started out with a simple idea: 24 hours each December in which Colorado comes together to raise funds for their favorite local nonprofits and thus strengthen the community by helping to power nonprofits. ColoradoGives partners with Community First Foundation and FirstBank to make this day rewarding for givers, nonprofits and the community as a whole. Since 2010, thousands of people like you, have made Colorado Gives Day one of the most successful giving days in the nation, raising more than $362 million, and it is now much more than just a day on which people donate- Coloradans have created their very own movement of radical generosity to change lives.
This year, the IRC in Denver has set their Colorado Gives Day goal to $50,000! All donations made HERE after November 1st and before December 5th will count toward this goal.
We at the IRC in Denver are blown away each and every year by the unparalleled generosity and philanthropic spirit of our fellow Coloradans. We are excited to be part of these movements that breathe fresh air into our mission and confirm that we are not alone in believing in our vision. "Giving Season" for us is a time in which we celebrate our accomplishments and make good things happen for the numerous refugee and immigrant families in our communities. And we invite you to join us by helping us share the news about Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day and invite your family, friends and your personal network to participate. Together, we can make Colorado an even better place for those having to leave their home country behind.
