On World Refugee Day (June 20), our community came together to celebrate the strength and resilience of refugees with an unforgettable event filled with art, activities, and fun. Held at Play Faire Park, a beloved local miniature golf course celebrating its 77th year in business, the event featured an interactive mural and a mini golf fundraiser that brought together people of all ages.

The day began with a vibrant and colorful interactive mural, inviting attendees to express their creativity and share messages of hope and solidarity. The mural quickly became a centerpiece of the event, drawing in both young and old to add their personal touch. This collaborative artwork not only highlighted the talents within our community but also served as a powerful symbol of unity and support for refugees.

We are excited to announce that this mural will be featured at the upcoming ArtWalk hosted by the Center for Contemporary Arts on July 11, 2024. If you missed the World Refugee Day event, this will be a wonderful opportunity to see the mural and add your own contributions. The ArtWalk promises to be another fantastic occasion to celebrate and support our refugee community.

One of the highlights of the day was the mini golf fundraiser. Participants of all skill levels enjoyed the creatively designed course, with each hole representing a different aspect of the refugee experience. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and fun, while also raising crucial funds to support our programs and services. These funds will help refugees build new lives in our community, providing them with the necessary resources and support to thrive.

The turnout for the event was incredible, reflecting the strong support and commitment of our community towards refugee causes. Families, friends, and neighbors came together to show their solidarity, making the day not only successful but also deeply meaningful. The sense of togetherness and shared purpose was palpable, reminding us of the power of community action.

We also want to express our gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the event. Your enthusiasm and generosity made World Refugee Day truly special. We are inspired by the collective effort and the positive energy that everyone brought to the event.

Thank you for being part of this wonderful celebration, Abilene! Together, we can create a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of our community.
