The IRC in Boise is excited to announce the Idaho Public Television premier of American Beat: Cops and Refugees join forces in Boise, on Thursday March 29th at 8:30 pm. Shot on location in Boise over the summer of 2017, the documentary artfully weaves together three stories: the groundbreaking efforts of Boise Police officers to integrate and mentor refugees; the determination of a former Iraqi translator for the US Military who is putting down roots with his family and hoping to become a police officer; and the story of Boise, itself, coming together to show refugees from war-torn Africa and the Middle East that, in America, a united community can conquer tragedy and hate.
The film moves beyond the divisive political rhetoric surrounding refugee resettlement to depict a humanizing, heartwarming and life-affirming portrait of Boise Idaho. You won’t want to miss this documentary, and please encourage others to watch as well!
Watch on Idaho Public TV, Thursday, March 29, at 8:30 pm
