IRC Hellas photo exhibit - Natalya Paliy
As part of the activities of the IRC’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme in Greece, the IRC Hellas team, in collaboration with the Migrant Integration Centre of the Municipality of Athens, organised a photo exhibition in January entitled "Athens, through the eyes of the Ukrainians." The initiative aimed to illuminate the feelings of people who have experienced war and conflict, presenting the strength, courage and resilience of their spirit.
The group of eight female photographers from Ukraine came together to use their cameras as a tool for exploring their emotions, recognising strength in moments of particular vulnerability. Photography was chosen as the medium that overcomes the language barrier and captures emotions in the best possible way.
Among the themes that the participants explored with their lens were desires, contact/love, and different identities. The images that were presented are a special visual journey. The hope of the organisers is to inspire discussions, demonstrating small and large everyday difficulties and challenges.
